Cheplaskei Students Walk 20km Protesting Poor School Management.
A dramatic student protest unfolded in Uasin Gishu County on Tuesday night when learners from Cheplaskei Secondary School walked 20 kilometers to express their frustration over poor school management. The students marched to the County Commissioner’s office, determined to have their voices heard.
Midnight Protest Shocks Authorities
Deputy County Commissioner Lilian Lagat reported that officials were alerted to the unusual demonstration around 2 a.m. on Wednesday. The students, dissatisfied with inadequate teaching and mismanagement, decided to take action by trekking through the night.
Despite the long-distance walk, they remained peaceful and did not cause any destruction. According to Uasin Gishu County Education Director John Thiringi, authorities promptly engaged the students and assured them that their grievances would be addressed. Following these assurances, the students agreed to return to school.
