The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the opening of its Inter-Institutional Transfer (IIT) portal, effective from Wednesday. This portal allows students who were placed in universities and colleges for the 2024-2025 academic year to transfer to different institutions. The application window for these transfers will close on July 4.
This transfer option is available for students wishing to change institutions or switch to a different course, provided they meet the required cut-off points and obtain approval from the new institution. To initiate the process, students need to log into the KUCCPS student portal at students.kuccps.net.
Step-by-Step Transfer Application Process:
- Login: Access the student portal using your credentials.
- Select Transfer Application: Navigate to the “Transfer Application” tab on the dashboard.
- Enter Program and Institution Codes: Input the codes for the desired program and institution.
- Provide Transfer Reason: Specify why you are requesting the transfer.
- Payment Instructions: Follow the instructions to make the Sh1,000 payment.
After submitting your application, a “Click Here to Pay” link will appear. This will direct you to the eCitizen payment instructions.
Choose a payment method and complete the payment.
For M-PESA payments, use Business Number 222222 and follow the provided steps. Enter your M-PESA PIN and send the payment.
Input the eCitizen Payment Reference Code to finalize your submission. Keep this code safe for future reference.

After submitting the application, students can track its status through the portal. Both the releasing and receiving institutions need to endorse the transfer. KUCCPS will notify you through the portal if the receiving institution declines the transfer, advising you to select a different program or institution.
Approval and Next Steps:
Once the transfer is endorsed by both institutions, KUCCPS will process the application. Upon approval, students can download and print the transfer letter. One copy of this letter should be sent to the new institution to receive the admission letter and other joining instructions.

Choose Payment Method: Follow the eCitizen payment instructions for various options.
