The TSC’s current salary structure is designed to align with the new grading system, which replaces the old system by merging and restructuring various groups. • Chief Principals: Grade D5, T-Scale 15
• Senior Principals: Grade D4, T-Scale 14
• Principal and Deputy Principal I: Grade D3, T-Scale 13
• Deputy Principal II, Senior Master I, Senior Lecturer I: Grade D2, T-Scale 12
• Senior Master II, Deputy Principal III, Senior Headteacher, Senior Lecturer II, Curriculum Support Officer I**: Grade D1, T-Scale 11

The salaries of teachers depend on their job groups, and this applies to both primary and secondary school teachers. Here’s the salary breakdown according to the latest CBA:

• Senior Principals (Grade D4, T-Scale 14): Ksh. 118,242 – 143,581

• Deputy Principals II, Senior Masters I, Senior Lecturers I (Grade D2, T-Scale 12): Ksh. 92,119 – 110,551

Implementation of the New Salary Scales

The new TSC salary scales are being implemented in two phases. The first phase began on January 1, 2023. The second phase is set to commence on July 1, 2024, covering all teachers currently in service.

Additional Information on TSC Salaries

• Basic Salary for C1 Teachers: Appointed TSC Lecturer III, Secondary Teacher III, and Primary Teacher I earn between Ksh. 28,491 and Ksh. 35,614 monthly.
• Basic Salary for C4 Teachers: Senior Lecturer IV, Senior Master IV, SNE Senior Teacher (Primary), SNE Teacher I (Secondary), and Deputy Headteacher II earn between Ksh. 52,308 and Ksh. 67,220.
• Secondary School Teachers’ Salaries: Secondary Teachers III start at Ksh. 35,614, while Secondary Chief Principals can earn over Ksh. 127,069 monthly.

Additionally, teachers receive monthly allowances based on their working environment and other factors.
