University of Nairobi Council Insists on Prof. Kiama’s Removal.
The University of Nairobi Council remains firm on the removal of Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama. This decision follows court orders issued a few weeks ago to halt the filling of vacant posts.
Council Chair Amukowa Anangwe has confirmed that Prof. Njoroge Gitau will continue to serve as the Acting Vice Chancellor. Anangwe emphasized that any defiance of this directive will be considered insubordination.
In a statement released on May 22, Anangwe declared, “Prof. Ayub Njoroge Gitau shall continue to serve as the Acting Vice Chancellor, fully authorized by the Council to execute the responsibilities of the position.” The statement further directed that, “All staff transfers and movements enacted in response to the court case and contrary to Council resolutions are hereby reversed. Affected staff are instructed to immediately return to their previous positions without any obstructions.”
