UDA Nominates Kindiki for Deputy Party Leader Post Pending Gachagua’s Impeachment Verdict.
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has revealed plans to adjust its top leadership structure, pending the court’s ruling on the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar stated on Tuesday that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) awaits the court’s decision, which would finalize the transition. Should the court uphold Gachagua’s impeachment, UDA intends to confirm Kithure Kindiki as its next Deputy President, with Kindiki nominated by President William Ruto on October 18.
Omar suggested that Gachagua should consider stepping back from the legal battle and let the party move forward, remarking, “If he wishes to regroup and re-organize politically, we wish him the best. But it’s time to move on.”

Meanwhile, Gachagua’s legal team argues that his ouster stemmed from political maneuvering, noting that the Senate finalized its decision while Gachagua was hospitalized. Despite the legal hurdles, Gachagua remains determined to challenge his impeachment, claiming he rightfully holds the Deputy President position and will do everything in his power to maintain it.
