Technology Expo to Empower Youth, Says PS.
The government has reaffirmed its dedication to leveraging science, technology, and innovation as pivotal elements for youth empowerment and national progress.
This statement precedes the first National Science and Technology Exhibition, organized by the Kenya National Research Fund (NRF). Higher Learning Principal Secretary Beatrice Inyangala emphasized the government’s focus on research and innovation to tackle societal challenges. “We have initiated collaborations with local and international partners to enhance research excellence across educational institutions,” Dr. Inyangala highlighted.
During a stakeholders’ forum for the upcoming Kenya National Research Festival 2024, Dr. Inyangala noted that the government is adopting best practices from nations like China, Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore to utilize science and innovation for development. “The collaboration between the National Research Fund and Young Scientist Kenya offers a platform for Kenyan youth from all counties to exhibit their research and innovation capabilities,” she added.
The inaugural event, themed “Research Partnerships and Collaborations for Socio-Economic Transformation,” aims to provide a stage for Kenyan youth to demonstrate their scientific skills and promote knowledge-sharing within the research community.

NRF Chief Executive Officer Dickson Andala remarked that Kenya’s swift progress towards industrialization and modernization is, in fact, driven by a commitment to scientific research and innovation. “Therefore, this festival will be a birthplace for groundbreaking ideas, forging partnerships, and fully utilizing the transformative power of research,” Prof. Andala said. Furthermore, he stressed that engaging with youth aims to inspire the broader community, consequently highlighting research’s role in addressing societal issues and boosting economic growth.
“The exhibition celebrates our young scientists’ talents and innovative spirit, providing a unique platform to display their projects and compete nationally,” Andala added. In addition, he mentioned that this partnership helps amplify the impact of research on society, the economy, and the environment.
