Special January Exam Scheduled for Candidates Who Missed KCPE Exam.
In a bid to guarantee the seamless transition of students to Form One in 2024, the Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, has declared a special examination for those who missed the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2023.
The Ministry of Education, under Machogu’s directive, will conduct a thorough mapping to identify candidates who were unable to sit for their exams in 2023, ensuring that they get an opportunity to take a Special Exam scheduled for January 2024. This strategic move aims to prevent any candidate from the final 2023 cohort from missing out on Form One admission.
During the release of the examination results at the new Kenya National Examination Council headquarters in South B, Machogu disclosed that a total of 9,354 candidates were unable to participate in the KCPE exams.
Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang further emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating with the National Treasury to facilitate the expedited release of first-term capitation payments. This proactive measure is intended to support a smooth reopening of schools in January 2024.
