Ruto Pledges Ksh500 Million for Nyamira University Construction.
President William Ruto has committed Ksh500 million for the establishment of Nyamira University at Kiabonyoru in Itibo ward. This announcement came during the President’s address to residents on the first day of his three-day tour of the region. Ruto emphasized his administration’s focus on enhancing educational development as part of a broader, more inclusive government strategy.
In his speech, President Ruto strongly urged the youth to harness the potential of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Furthermore, he highlighted the ongoing roll-out of Jitume ICT hubs, which will be installed in every ward across the country. Moreover, these hubs aim to provide youth with opportunities to secure online jobs, thereby leveraging the global connectivity that ICT offers.

“The world has become a global village,” Ruto remarked, encouraging young people to embrace computer technology. He stressed that this adoption would enable them to work from home, thereby tapping into the vast opportunities available in the digital space.

Furthermore, Ruto expressed gratitude to the Kuwaiti government for its generous contribution of Ksh1.4 billion. This funding is being utilized to build and enhance infrastructure in 68 primary schools across the county. In addition, among the beneficiaries of this aid are 24 secondary schools, including Kiabonyoru Secondary School, where the President laid foundation stones for one modern dormitory and three classrooms.
In addition to the university project, President Ruto announced plans for the construction of a second Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Manga sub-county. As a result, this initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving access to quality education and healthcare training in the region.
The President’s announcement of substantial funding for Nyamira University and the development of educational infrastructure reflects his administration’s dedication to prioritizing education in its broader agenda for national development.
