Ministry of Education Reschedules Half-Term Break.
In response to the recent heavy rains across the country, the Ministry of Education has announced a one-week delay for the upcoming half-term break. The half-term break for pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools, initially set for June 20 to 23, 2024, will now take place from June 26 to 28, 2024.
According to a circular from Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, all boarding school students are expected to return by June 30, 2024. The delay may necessitate adjustments to planned activities and schedules.

Despite this change, the school term will still end on August 2, 2024, as per the original schedule. Dr. Kipsang confirmed that after consultations with school heads, the Ministry decided not to extend the second term. However, he did not completely dismiss the possibility of an extension, stating that the Ministry would continue to monitor learning progress throughout the term.
Dr. Kipsang reassured that the lost time due to the delayed reopening is recoverable and will not significantly impact the academic calendar. Nevertheless, any extension of the term could potentially affect the schedule for national exams.
