Mama Ngina University College Endorses New Higher Education Funding Model.
Mama Ngina University College (MNUC) has thrown its full support behind the new university funding model. The institution believes that the approach will make higher education more accessible and inclusive, allowing students from various backgrounds to benefit. MNUC Principal, Prof. Zipporah Ng’ang’a, shared these sentiments during a ceremony welcoming the fourth cohort of first-year students at the university’s campus in Mutomo, Gatundu South.
Prof. Ng’ang’a praised the new model for its tripartite structure, which combines household contributions, loans, and scholarships to ensure fairness. She emphasized that the model balances the needs of universities and students alike. According to the principal, the system will help universities cover program costs and ensure proper compensation for staff while reducing the financial strain on students. By supporting learners from diverse financial backgrounds, the model aims to foster inclusivity in Kenya’s higher education system.
During her address, Prof. Ng’ang’a encouraged the new students to focus on academic excellence and personal development as they embark on their university education. She warned against distractions such as substance abuse, irresponsible behavior, and peer pressure, urging them to stay disciplined. “High moral standards and discipline will not only help you achieve academic success but also attract future employers,” she stated. She also advised students to engage in co-curricular activities to fully develop their talents in sports, entertainment, and other areas.
