Kenyatta University makes clear its intentions to persist on its fight to have students continually access the hospital for training purposes even after the facility opens doors to the first batch of students for training.
According to higher education PS Beatrice Inyangala, 100 students from Kenyatta University are lucky to be part of the pioneer group that has gained access to the hospital for training purposes.
She argues that this is a significant milestone to medical education in the institution and articulated her commitment to ensuring that in the future more students are able to access the facility.
Inyangala indicates that the facility has the luxury of enjoying the utilization of modern facilities and equipment. These resources will be of great benefit to the students pursuing medical courses in the institution.
Furthermore, the university Vice Chancellor, Paul Wainaina, emphasizes that the institution’s primary goal is to ensure students have the opportunity to access the campus for learning and training. Moreover, he highlights the importance of students taking ownership of the facility.

Wainana argues that he is happy and acknowledges the efforts of various stakeholders in making it possible for Kenyatta University students to gain access to the facility.
“I find it difficult to express just how grateful I am to witness the warm reception of our students and lecturers here for the first time today. Our primary concern is access, and that is the petitioners’ request,” Wainaina said.
Furthermore, Wainaina continues to add that, in spite of the ongoing tussle for ownership, student access to the facility is a significant milestone in receiving quality medical education. Additionally, he highlights that the availability of this resource is crucial, as it directly impacts the students’ ability to access top-notch medical education.
Contrary to the opinion by the Vice chancellor, Inyangala argues that the facility is under government ownership.
“The issue of hospital ownership is not in dispute as both the institutions belong to the government. We are here to draw on the resources available provided for by the government to provide the best education to the students,” Inyangala said.
According to KUTTRH chairperson Olive Mugenda, the hospital has a commitment in working with the university in ensuring that students have access to the facility to increase their learning experiences.
