KNEC expresses readiness to administer 2023 examinations
The Kenya National Examination Council is in the process of compiling a list of teachers who will play an instrumental role in overseeing the national examinations this year. Unlike in previous years, the council is committed to carrying out all logistical aspects of the process on time.
To qualify as an invigilator or supervisor, an individual must be a trained teacher of good moral standing without any criminal record.
The council has expressed its readiness to administer this year’s national examinations to all registered candidates. During the educational assessment conference at Safari Park Hotel, the council CEO assured all the stakeholders that the necessary arrangements had been made and the council was ready to administer the said examinations within the set timelines. The 39th AEAA conference brought together various education stakeholders in the African continent and beyond.

In August 2023, KCSE examiners were trained by the council. Qualified examiners had to meet set criteria, including being a registered teacher, employed by the Teachers Service Commission, being an experienced teacher with a minimum of 3 years experience, recommendation by institution heads, and attaining an age limit of 50 years and below.
Exam Malpractice
To curb cheating, the council has implemented additional measures, including limiting the collection of papers to be administered during the day by the center manager. The center manager will now only be required to pick the examinations students will undertake in the morning. The council also seeks to install more storage points for examination materials closer to learning institutions.
KNEC has also reiterated that when an institution has widespread cheating, it risks having all its results cancelled.
To provide information to the general public, KNEC has published the KCPE, KPSEA, and KILEA timetables on its website as a meanings of preparing all stakeholders involved.
