KEPSHA Urges Prompt Disbursement of Funds for Primary Schools.
The Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association (KEPSHA) requests the government to disburse free primary education funds early next year before schools open.
According to primary school heads, the move would play a role in ensuring that primary schools can easily cater to their day-to-day operations. They indicate that in the past, fund disbursement has been a significant impediment to school programs.
In the resolutions passed through the week-long conference, the school heads argue that the government should “Ensure timely release of the Free Primary Education (FPE) fund preferably before the opening of the schools to ease the operations of schools.”
During the conference, Nzioka expressed their gratitude to the government for facilitating the implementation of the competency-based curriculum (CBC) and the new education structure (2:6:3:3).

In addition, the school heads also thanked the government for committing to confirm the primary school heads to serve as administrators for comprehensive schools.
The association has urged the government to elevate primary school heads with advanced educational qualifications.
During a five-day Sheikh Zayed Children’s Welfare Centre conference, teachers expressed gratitude for the government’s decision to promote primary head teachers to job group C5 due to increased responsibilities. The school heads were also cautioned against raising fees in the upcoming year.
Members proposed a constitutional review by KEPSHA to align with the evolving Basic Education restructuring and emerging needs. Furthermore, there is a collective desire for KEPSHA to become part of the Africa Confederation of Principals and the International Confederation of Principals. This move aims to facilitate a robust knowledge exchange and promote continuous learning within the education sector.
