Kenyan Teachers Find New Opportunities in US Schools Through Strategic Partnerships.
The State Department for Diaspora Affairs has spotlighted two companies facilitating the deployment of Kenyan teachers to schools across the United States. This initiative, a collaboration between private firms and the Ministry of Labour, aims to enhance opportunities for Kenyan educators abroad.
The two companies involved are Consult Centre Limited and PESUAR International Job Placement Consultancy. Consult Centre Limited, a National Employment Authority registered agency, collaborates closely with Kenyan authorities. PESUAR, a diaspora-owned recruitment agency registered in the US, brings additional expertise to the partnership.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi recently announced the deployment of 67 teachers to the US. During the flag-off ceremony, Mudavadi highlighted the rigorous selection process conducted by the two companies. He stated that the teachers underwent extensive interviews to secure their positions. Out of many applicants, only 67 teachers met the stringent criteria. These teachers are now ready to start their new roles in the US, where they will receive better remuneration.

Mudavadi also emphasized the importance of these educators serving as exemplary brand ambassadors for Kenya. Their success and professionalism will pave the way for future opportunities for other Kenyan teachers.
Kenya has put in place several frameworks to ensure the rights and welfare of its teachers working abroad. Teachers facing challenges in the US are encouraged to seek assistance from Kenyan missions. Kenya has an embassy in Washington DC and consulates in Los Angeles and New York, providing essential support to the teachers.
President William Ruto recently highlighted that approximately 1,000 Kenyans leave the country each week to pursue job opportunities abroad. This trend reflects the growing global mobility of Kenyan professionals, who are increasingly seeking better prospects internationally.
