Kakamega Primary: Top Student Scores 416 marks in KCPE
The atmosphere at Kakamega Primary School was filled with excitement and celebration due to the outstanding achievement of their top candidate, who clinched an impressive 416 marks in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.
The school’s headteacher took a moment to commend the entire student body for their unwavering commitment and hard work, resulting in a remarkable mean score of 342 marks. A total of 546 candidates from Kakamega Primary School sat for the KCPE examinations, with 19 students scoring over 400 marks.
In acknowledging the achievement, the headteacher attributed the success to the students’ dedication and the pivotal role played by the teachers and support staff. Their commitment, guidance, and support were instrumental in paving the way for such an impressive academic performance.
Moreover, the headteacher shared encouraging news for needy students who excelled, particularly those with over 400 marks. He revealed that Elimu, a scholarship provider, would step in to offer financial support for their secondary school education. This initiative aims to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder the academic progression of these bright minds.

While lauding the successes achieved, he also took the opportunity to urge the government to enhance the supply of learning and teaching materials to schools, a crucial factor in the effective implementation of the CBC.
While praising the dedicated staff, the headteacher underscored that many teachers are degree holders and employed under the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
