Great News for Parents: Machogu Confirms No 2024 School Fee Hike.
Ezekiel Machogu, the Education Cabinet Secretary, has reassured parents that there will be no increase in school fees for Form One students in 2024. This important announcement was made during his visit to supervise the start of the KCPE and KPSEA exams, an event graced by President William Ruto in Kikuyu.
Machogu left no room for doubt as he affirmed that the current fee structures for national secondary schools and extra county schools, presently set at Sh53,000 per annum, will remain unchanged. Likewise, county secondary school students will continue to pay Sh45,000 per year. The message is straightforward: these fee structures will remain unaltered.
Furthermore, Machogu emphasized that there are ample placements available for Form One students in high schools nationwide. He also confirmed the successful distribution of exam papers to all examination centers, with the exams scheduled to span three days, concluding on November 1, 2023.

Silas Obuhatsa, the Chairman of the National Parents Association, echoed Machogu’s statement, emphasizing the absence of student fee increases. He dismissed claims of new fee structures as mere media propaganda, asserting that no discussions have occurred within the government regarding fee increments. Any such decision, if ever considered necessary, would involve active participation from school management boards and parents in the decision-making process.
In summary, Education CS Machogu and the National Parents Association have joined forces to assure parents that there will be no rise in school fees for Form One students in 2024. The existing fee structures for different school types will remain unwavering. As a result, parents can rest easy, knowing that there are no fee hikes on the horizon as they prepare for their children’s education in the upcoming year.
