Gov’t Increases Civil Servants’ Salaries, Averting Planned Strike.
The government has successfully averted a planned strike by agreeing to increase civil servants’ salaries. The increments, ranging between Ksh.1,000 and Ksh.3,000, are backdated to July 1, 2024. This move is part of a broader effort to improve the welfare of government employees.
In a circular issued by Public Service Principal Secretary Amos Gathecha, it was announced that civil servants will receive a salary boost. For example, employees earning Ksh.19,220 per month will now receive Ksh.20,560, effective July 1, 2024. Additionally, those earning Ksh.23,700 will notice a positive change in their payslips. The salary hike also extends to higher job groups.
