Recognizing the progress made in combating substance abuse, he urged educators to support these efforts by setting personal examples. He specifically asked teachers to drink less, choose healthier options, and encourage others to avoid harmful substances.
“I appeal to you at the individual level to take up this challenge by drinking less and choosing the right products,” he said.

Gachagua highlighted the influential role of teachers as opinion leaders in their communities. He stressed that teachers’ behavior can significantly impact their communities, urging them to act as role models by promoting healthy habits and sobriety among students and peers.
“People look at teachers as role models. So, drink the right thing so that those who want to emulate you can also drink the right thing or even drink nothing at all,” Gachagua added.
He further emphasized that the nation’s transformation relies on the healthy habits of its critical population – teens and youth. He warned that the country cannot progress if its youth continue to engage in destructive behaviors.
“We cannot transform our nation when the critical population – teens and youth – drink themselves to destruction,” he concluded.
